Are all roads leading to the Rockhampton Ring Road?

February 13, 2018

In February 2017, the Federal and State Governments announced $65M in funding to support the commencement of the Rockhampton Ring Road.[1]

The planning project is currently underway and it is set to be completed by late 2019. The Rockhampton Ring Road alignment will be finalised, environmental assessments, surveys and investigations will be conducted, a business case will be completed and land requirements will be published.[2]

Have you received a letter?

Letters were recently sent by The Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) to 55 landowners that are to be impacted by the planning stage of the Rockhampton Ring Road.[3]

While the Rockhampton Ring Road will bring many benefits to the Rockhampton Region and the local industries, Rees R & Sydney Jones understands that local landowners may have concerns about the letter from DTMR and its contents, the proposed route and queries about the resumption and taking of land process.

Common questions

What do I do with my property now? Do I continue to invest in and improve my land? My property is for sale, how can I sell it now it has been identified? These are all questions that landowners have in these types of matters.  The date of the resumption is the date which a Valuer will use to value your property. If you do not continue to go about using and improving your property as you normally would, then when it comes to the date for the valuations to be done, your property could look like it is in need of repair. The actual date for the resumption might not be for a couple of years. There are also Hardship provisions in the law to assist landowners.

Where can I locate additional information about the Rockhampton Ring Road?
